Going to the beach with the dog

Lovely run on the beach with the dog. A large sandpit, lots of like-minded people and the sea. Now that is enjoyment! You have all the space you need to play or walk for hours. It is a treat to see your dog so enthusiastic. On the beach you experience the real Freedom on the Coast. From May to September, dogs are allowed to run free before 10 a.m. in the morning and after 7 p.m. in the evening. Going to the beach with the dog? These are a few things to keep in mind.
Dogs at the beach: Protect paws
The sand can be hot. Especially in the afternoon and evening, when the sun has been burning on it all day. Just as we burn the soles of our feet, your dog will burn his or her paws. They can get blisters or even burns. And because they are so enthusiastic you may not realize it. So check first for yourself that the sand is not too hot. If your dog is not too big you can carry him or her to the water line, or arrange a pair of dog shoes if your dog is used to them. There are also special creams to protect the soles of your dog's feet from drying out.
Your dog and salt water
The sea is great for playing in, but not suitable for drinking. If your dog ingests too much salt water, he or she can get salt poisoning. Make sure you have plenty of fresh drinking water with you. If your dog is thirsty after raging, drinking enough is very important. Sometimes there is a layer of foam on the beach. Many dogs love to bite into that and play, but again they get salt from this. Don't let them play too long and make sure they drink enough fresh water as well. This will prevent your dog from getting sick.
Sand in the eyes
There is nothing more fun than digging holes and racing through loose sand. And it's so cute, such a head all covered in sand. Be careful not to get too much sand in the eyes, as this can give your dog nasty infections. Accompany your dog to the shoreline where the sand does not drift up too much and carefully wipe the eyes with a damp tissue.
Dog, beach, enjoy
The most important thing you can do with your dog at the beach is to enjoy yourself. Keep an eye on your dog and enjoy the surroundings. Would you like to enjoy the Dutch coast a little longer?
